'Washoe' was the first chimpanzee to learn to communicate in words. She was acquired in 1966 by behavioural psychologists at the University of Nevada in Reno. They taught her the American sign language.
Don't be mistaken. She was not the missing link. This is not a proof that we really came from monkey. If that is so, why is it that even this minute, no monkey could bear a human child-like being? But I do believe that there are newly-born children who looks like monkeys even a horse.
